Welcoming casual spot in Sausalito- nice service and overall very well-run establishment. Kid-friendly with good selection of kid menu options. The chips and salsa they serve is delicious. As for main menu fare--Between the Baja fish tacos and the almond-crusted fish tacos- highly recommend the almond-crusted fish tacos. The shisito pepper appetizer was very uniquely prepared with a chili lime type sauce, and Thyme for Mezcal drink received rave reviews. Located away from the overly touristy areas and street parking was easy--they also have a small parking lot behind the building. Overall would come back.

Saylor's is my go-to Friday night spot in Sausalito. The food is incredible and they have an extensive menu. The chips and salsa are dangerously delicious. Definitely MAKE A RESERVATION since this place fills up quickly! Kudos to the person who decorated the bathroom - it is hilarious.

I only went to "saylor's restaurant" one time and it was a happy time I will never forget. My brother and sister-in-law brought me here and I got the "chile Relleno dinner"! My husband's favorite and one of mine too. I was taught as a child how to make "chile Relleno's" fresh from the garden. I would run to the back of the house I was staying for the summer in "Santa Ynez" and pick the juiciest looking chiles I could find and bring them in the house and give them a quick rinse and dry them and put them right on the gas flame, burning the shining skin off and then putting them in a paper bag for about ten minutes. Take them out and peel the skin off and slit the chile and get all the seeds out leaving the stem. I would grate some Monterey Jack cheese and break open two eggs and scramble them separately and also make a dish of seasoned flour. With either fine corn flour mixed with all purpose flour and a little spice granulated garlic and a tiny bit of cayenne. Then you stuffed the chiles with the cheese and dipped in the egg batter and then flour and a little more egg if it needs it. Fry in a cast iron pan with avocado oil because it gets really hot without burning but you do need to watch it. Drain on paper towels and keep warm in the oven and serve with rice and refried beans and guacamole and salsa and tortillas. They are a lot of fun to make. I learned to make these when I was eleven years. I didn't put cayenne in them at that age though.just salt and pepper. Saylors, makes them just like I remember them:-)
